Complementary Colours

In this mornings lecture we looked at colour, we explored different complementarycolours displayed on a colour wheel. The colour wheel works by seeing which colour is opposite to it on the wheel by mixing these colours together they create a new colour. I also learnt black should never be used in painting as this can dull a piece as black absorbs light, a dark should always be made from a colour such as brown or blue. For example yellow and purple are complementary colours. David hockey uses the use of complementary colours in his landscape pieces, for example he uses a purple-green colour track and blue-orange.
