Drawing Onto Etching Plates Session- Maritime experience Hartlepool
During this session we took part in a outing to Hartlepool's 'Maritime experience' which is a re-creation of an 18th century seaport. The HMS Trincomalee, Britans oldest warship is also afloat at the centre of the quay.Whilst visiting the attraction we photographed interesting buildings, fences, architecture and angles we may wish to draw in our own composition. The media of this process is pencil and paper firstly to develop the initial sketch. On completion of the sketch the plate sat over the pencil drawing and marks could be made using a sharp tool to scratch into the plate and create lines and texture of the drawing. To create the illusion of .... the closest features in the image where made darker compared to further away marks which were made lighter. This piece could then be made into a print.
